THE PAPER COUNTER-PART OF UK DRIVING LICENCES HAS NOW BEEN ABOLISHED

The paper counterpart of the driving licence has now been abolished by the DVLA, and will no longer provide an accurate guide to the drivers’ endorsements or entitlements, which are required by a us for insurance purposes. Any updates to licences will be held centrally by the DVLA, but drivers will still need to retain the plastic photocard.

There are number of ways you can provide your driving licence information to Pontyclun Van Hire:

    1.  Generate a code for the driver's licence using the "Share my Licence" facility on the DVLA website. You will then need to provide the code to us on the rental desk, and we will use it to confirm your licence information via the DVLA. These codes are only valid for 72 hours.

A video guide to this process can be seen below.

    2.  If you don't have access to the web we can call the DVLA to verify endorsement details but the driver will need to be present to confirm their identity. Lines are open Monday - Friday, 8 am - 7 pm, and Saturday 8 am - 2 pm. If you are unable to be present you will need to call the DVLA on 0300 790 6801 to leave your permission for us to make the check.  There may be a small charge for this service, so we recommend you access your licence online.

You may be asked to bring along your National Insurance number in order for a licence check to be made at the point of collection. You will then be given access to view and print your own licence details via the DVLA website at our rental desk.
